ChartJS changing graphs based upon Drop Down selection

Question

I am trying to determine the correct way to reload the canvas each time the user selects a new chart Type in ChartJS, right now it wont change the chart type:

One issue is the use of the assignment operator (=) instead of a logical operator (== or ===) in your conditional checks. Additionally, I wouldn't couple the if/else logic with the available chart types.

you have a bug in your code, where your charts stay on the canvas when switching if you hover over the center — user2402107, Oct 21 '15 at 14:10
Never used this particular charting framework. Looks like just a [destroy](http://stackoverflow.com/questions/24815851/how-do-clear-a-chart-from-a-canvas-so-that-hover-events-cannot-be-triggered) was needed. — Origineil, Oct 22 '15 at 13:20

as i know we can't update chart type directly in Charts.js then we have to destroy original chart and redraw the chart
