If it is a dataframe, you can use:
df.column_name.unique()
if it is a numpy array:
np.unique(array)
If it is a list:
unique = list(set(data))
If you don't have the full data and it depends on anything else, you can use a function like:
   # initialize a null list
   unique_list = []

    # traverse for all elements
   for x in data: # read the data
         # check if exists in unique_list or not
       if x not in unique_list:
           unique_list.append(x)
