Trying to upload a vite project to git hub pages, but command line says You need to run this command from the toplevel of the working tree

this error occurred after I ran git subtree push --prefix dist origin gh-pages, i was following along with this article. below is a photo of my files as well as the command line. not sure how to properly deploy
