I'm following this to remove or disable Edge.

I first terminated it in Task Manager. Then, I tried to rename the folders, as suggested, which didn't work:

I then tried to uninstall it, as suggested, which also didn't work:

Edge is still opening & operating like normal.

Edge is built into Windows 10 / 11 and even more so that now deprecated Internet Explorer.

It cannot be Natively removed and you cannot Natively disable the functionality.

Remove any shortcuts to Edge and then set your own Browser (e.g. Chrome) as Default Browser. You can do this and Edge will not be intrusive. It may come up once in a while.

Go to Settings, Apps, scroll down to Edge and do a Repair. This will fix any issues Edge is having.

There is now not much to choose from between Chromium Chrome and Chromium Edge.

You could use third-party resources that can wipe Edge from your system. Use an uninstaller like Revo and/or an utility suite like WinUtil.

Trying to force Windows to disable it's own "features" has proven to be counter-intuitive and very difficult, IMO.
