I've got a HP EliteBook 8460p running Linux, and when I reboot the system, during boot it throws error No OS found; however, if I shut it down, then start it manually by button, everything works as it should.

  • This is not an error specific to a specific Linux distribution, but rather on all of them; I have tried Ubuntu, Arch, Debian, and Mint and all show the same behaviour.
  • I tested with EFI and Legacy Boot, which also behaves the same
    • UEFI firmware states that EFI Boot is only meant to be used for testing/development purposes, but I doubt this could be the problem since it persists with Legacy Boot

Has anyone had the same problem and managed to solve it, or does anyone with good knowledge of Linux internals know what causes the No OS found error specifically on reboot?
