I'm on Linux and I want to use LightDM as my display manager. So far, the display manager and the greeter itself (it's the Xubuntu GTK+ greeter, if it's relevant) work correctly — everything works correctly.

The only issue I have is an aesthetic one: when LightDM has stopped (e.g. when the system is being shut down) or when it is about to be brought up again after logging out of the session (but not when the system is booting, as there are no previous console contents in that case), on the screen for a brief period one can see the contents of the last used console (e.g. /dev/tty3). I've also noticed that if I stop LightDM with a command (systemctl stop lightdm.service), the console contents are also shown for a brief period but then are immediately cleared and I am left with a blank screen.

My questions are: why is this happening i.e. why are the previously used console contents being displayed when LightDM is starting/stopping in scenarios as described above; and how can I prevent them from being displayed in those scenarios?
