My Chromebook is up-to-date with respect to the O/S:

Version 133.0.6943.146 (Official Build) (64-bit)

I have “Spelling and grammar check” toggled off (see screenshot) but when I type "The textarea is" in a Stack Exchange comment box, it is changed automatically to "The text area is." And if I type the letters t-e-x-t-a-r-e-a (without space) into this question, it is auto-corrected to "text area."

Is there another Chromebook setting that must be changed? Or has Stack Exchange implemented its own spelling and grammar checker? Or something else?

One uses a web browser to interact with Stack Exchange, such as Google Chrome browser (not the same as the Chrome operating system), Firefox, or Tor browser. Each browser has setting for spell checking, too, such as for Chrome browser.
