I have an external WD 4TB USB hard drive. Hard disk gets power only when microusb 3.0 type B end of cable is pressed by force of hands against microusb 3.0 type B socket of external hard drive. If force of hands is removed, external hard drive power is switched off. Hard disk repairman opened hard disk and told me that socket of hard disk is not loose. What might be the problem with my hard drive? How can I fix this problem?

I have tried using another cable but hard disk still requires pressure to get power.

A loose port is not the only reason for these symptoms, or the only sort of damage the port could have.

Because you tried a second cable with the same outcome, the issue is most likely with the port (or ports) on the drive. It could be the traces in the port have been bent subtly such that a normally inserted connector does not make or maintain contact.

Rather than just looking for a loose port, the port itself should simply be replaced, provided that is something that can be done.
