I have a work windows11 machine part of domain from which I am trying to start RDP session to my local PC (also windows 10 but not in any domain) I use ".\username| or 'LOCAL\username" in username field. However, it always fails first time saying login fails. I have to select from the list to login with another user and when I try same exact credentials again it works.

Although I ask RDP session to save credentials, it doesn't save anything to credentials manager after successful logins! Saving generic credentials manually to credentials manager doesn't help.

How can I bypass this behavior to allow me to save RDP sessions that connect automatically? I can successfully login using RDM = Remote Desktop Manager. But can't using native windows client.

Note:

I already activated group policy option "Allow delegating saved credentials with NTLM-only server authentication" and forced policy update before testing but it didn't help.
