I have a Samsung SSD 980 PRO 2TB NVMe drive that’s about 3 years old.

About once a month, during large file copies or archival operations, I get this error:

Data error (cyclic redundancy check)

I ran Samsung Magician → Diagnostic Scan: Full Scan, and it returned a result showing problematic sectors. See screenshot 1.

After the scan, the Recovery button appears, but when I run the recovery operation, it fails. See screenshot 2.

However, the S.M.A.R.T. data in Samsung Magician says everything is fine — no warnings. See screenshot 3.

Screenshot 5 shows the result of the Extended SMART Self-test.

❓ My Questions: Should I replace this SSD, or is it still safe to use for regular work?

Why does SMART show no problems while Diagnostic Scan reports bad blocks?

Or could this issue actually be related to a faulty motherboard or storage controller?
