I have a Seagate One Touch 2 TB portable HDD. It has password protection. I was using it, and suddenly it stopped. Now, when I am trying to open it, the following message appears - "Unlocker device not found, Disconnect and reconnect your drive".
Normally, an icon saying "Ok" will appear next to the "Quit" icon.
What I think the problem is, like we have a lock and we have a key for it. The lock has gone missing. The password is the key that I have.
I contacted Seagate and, after a lengthy conversation, they informed me that a data recovery option with a third-party service would cost a minimum of USD 300 (approximately INR 25,000), which is nearly five times the cost of the HDD itself, rendering it my last option.
