How do I make my laptop use its discrete graphics card instead of its integrated graphics card?

I have an Alienware 14 laptop. In all games I try to play, it is using the integrated graphics card and not the Nvidia Geforce GTX 765m graphics card. I've gone to the Nvidia control panel and changed it to use the high performance Nvidia processor but it still uses the integrated graphics card.

integrated, dedicated gpu switching is done by project bumblebee in linux platform. also for the auto switching there is project primus. If you wanna use auto-switch rather than VirtualGL you need to run $ primusrun application.
