I'm French, so excuse my English. Are there ways to export 3D models from Google Earth unavailable on 3D Warehouse? I found old tools:
3D Ripper X, Open GLX Tractor, OGLE (The OpenGLExtractor)...
that captured 3D rendering data from Google Earth and other 3D generator to import into 3D modeling programs (SketchUp, etc.) to export them as .stl or .obj to 3D print these models.
People speak about the 3D Warehouse from Sketchup to download buildings and others models created by users but nobody is extracting models generated by Google Earth. Google Earth exports .kml data but when you import into SketchUp, you get an error message: "failed to import".
I tried downgrading Google Earth or Sketchup versions, but it still won't work.
When these software were working, people used them in geographical or architectural purposes like so: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18QbZyuy2JY.
I'm using a Mac, so I can't see if this is still possible on 3ds max. I have some possibility to use Windows. I tried to use the 3D Ripper DX while running Google Earth but it didn't even show the capture option in the top left corner and when pressing the capture key, nothing was found in the output directory.
I focused on Google Earth. Maybe other 3D earth modeling software allows you to capture their models, but I don't think they are as complete as Google Earth.
