DD-WRT is a Linux based open source firmware for wireless routers and embedded systems.

dd-wrt logo

The DD-WRT firmware is an open source alternative firmware for routers, wireless access points and modems. It replaces the firmware supplied by the manufacturer. (This process usually voids the warranty, though it is often reversible.)

It's focus is on improving security by adding admin privileges and on providing more wireless network options and SSH access. Power users can usually gain greater control over their hardware than by using stock firmware.

The emphasis lies on providing the easiest possible handling while at the same time supporting a great number of functionalities within the framework of the hardware used.

I'm aware of the giant Supported Devices list. I'm wondering which ones you all prefer (e.g., support for Mega install, cheap, reliable hardware, USB port, etc.) I've used an ASUS WL-500G Premium for 1.5 years, but I've been eyeballing the WL-520gU…

With the original firmware of my router I had port forwarding defined from port 80 to the server in the LAN, which I used in conjunction with an external dynamic DNS service. I've now upgraded to DD-WRT and alas the port forwarding only works for…

I have a Linksys router running DD-WRT (Firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (09/08/09) mini). I have it successfully resolving the DNS names for my DHCP-assigned systems, but only when I fully-qualify those domains. This is despite using the "expand-hosts"…

How to configure QoS for CrashPlan, which connects on HTTPS port, without affecting all other HTTPS traffic?

CrashPlan appears to upload stuff on the standard HTTPS port 443. Is there any way to allocate it bulk QoS priority separately from all other HTTPS traffic, or am I completely stuffed? I'm using DD-WRT.
