ASUS Express Gate is an operating system that usually comes with some ASUS motherboards. Use this tag if you have trouble installing or using Express Gate.

ASUS Express Gate is a Linux distribution based on Splashtop OS. It can boot in less than 10 seconds. Express Gate usually comes with certain ASUS motherboards, allowing the user to choose between loading a full desktop operating system and Express Gate.

Express Gate comes with a Web Browser, Skype, and Adobe Flash. You are able to browse your file system (support for EXT2, EXT3, NTFS and FAT) to listen to music or load some basic documents, although functionality is very limited. There are projects available to replace or add features to the Express Gate that can help turn it into an extremely quick operating system for booting, as it lives on the motherboard in its own cache storage.

Express Gate is not as large as a full-fledged desktop operating system; as such, you cannot usually add extra hardware drivers, install extra programs from within the system (see note above), or print/scan with it. Because it's not very large, it is very quick to load, and tends to be useful on netbooks where speed is lacking and only one program needs to run (i.e. a browser or Skype)
