Is the South Bridge on today's motherboard capable of supporting PCIe?
I am reading a book that is describing the roles of the NB and SB (North Bridge and South Bridge) and the book explains the roles of each one. However, I'm wondering, is the SB capable of supporting PCIe communication?

What would happen if you switched the Northbridge and the Southbridge?
I guess to start, is it even possible? And if not, let's say it was, could it do damage to the Processor or GPU? Could other components on the Motherboard be affected?
