Hi! I'm Simon =)

I have been playing with IT stuff for 30+ years in New Zealand and Australia, currently working as a cloud and infrastructure consultant in Auckland, New Zealand.

I am definitely a Microsoft Azure / 365 advocate and think to myself "why isn't everyone in the cloud yet?". Then I learned it's a combination of many things, so my job is to be able to speak to the right people in the right way, to convince them to change their mind and realise the cloud is their friend and will make their lives easier... it's a no brainer!

I’ve also always held a special admiration for all the amazing people around the globe who (mostly in their own time) choose to explain or write about how to implement solutions and the ways they solved problems. I certainly wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for those people!

At 47 and during lockdown, I set a goal to make my own blog site. A few late nights later (and maybe a 'few' beers later =) https://www.howdoiuseacomputer.com was born! I thought if one person visited and I helped them solve a problem, or get home earlier, or gave them an idea - how cool would that be!?

Hence I am also here to try and solve problems, provide answers where I can, challenge other answers where I disagree, and hopefully help the IT community in some way.
