Technologist. Expert in some things, cluebag in others. Work-wise, I have a lot of experience in Linux/Unix, Windows, and macOS systems and network administration, webmastering and online publishing, and use of the Internet and the Web for activism (I kind of co-invented that, in the '90s). I spend a lot of time in scripting and markup languages like bash, PHP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS; but not a lot of time in programming languages like Python, C[*], Go, etc. I work a lot with WordPress (which I no longer recommend) and phpBB.

Outside of techie stuff, I have a degree in cultural anthropology and linguistics; lots of professional experience at public/media relations, advocacy, and lobbying in the nonprofit sector; genealogy (I am doing a one-name study); English usage for a global audience (I'm one of the chief editors of the Wikipedia Manual of Style for 18+ years); cats, animal breeding, and the history of domestication; freedom of expression, privacy, and anti-fascism; intellectual property and fair use; salamanders and newts; Celtic history and linguistics (I am not yet fluent in any of those languages, but am learning Scottish Gaelic).
