Type locality: Notrhwest Atlantic Ocean, USA, Virginia, Northampton County, between the main-land and the line of outside islands.
Note: Reinstated by Radashevsky (2024: 4–8); Junior homonym of Polydora caeca (Örsted, 1843) (an accepted spelling variant of Polydora coeca (Örsted, 1843), two names have been used as replacement: Polydora websteri Hartman in Loosanoff & Engle, 1943 & Polydora neocaeca Williams & Radashevsky, 1999.
