- Type locality: Pond connected to Prince of Songkla University reservoir, Songkhla, Thailand: 07° 00.530' N, 100° 30.350' E.
- Etymology: The species is named from the character of the rostrum, it refers to the rostrum being extremely long and gigantic (mega).
