Etymology

Compare Arabic سَكَنَ (sakana) and Biblical Hebrew שָׁכַן (šɔḵán). Also compare perhaps Biblical Hebrew הֵכִין (heḵin, to establish, set up), hif'il of Biblical Hebrew כ־ו־ן (k-w-n), and Ugaritic 𐎌𐎋𐎐 (škn, to establish), Š-stem of Ugaritic 𐎋𐎐 (kn, to be).
