Inherited from Byzantine Greek ἀνέβαζω (anébazō), from Hellenistic Koine Greek ἀναβάζω (anabázō). The ⟨ε⟩ based on the augments from the past tense stem ανεβασ- (imperfect ἀνέβαζα (anébaza) or past ἀνέβασα (anébasa)). From the Ancient Greek ἀναβιβάζω (anabibázō, cause to mount).[1][2][3]
