- 150 CE – 215 CE, Clement of Alexandria, Stromata 5.8.46.3:
- βέδυ μὲν γὰρ τοὺς Φρύγας τὸ ὕδωρ φησὶ καλεῖν.
- bédu mèn gàr toùs Phrúgas tò húdōr phēsì kaleîn.
- for it is said that the Phrygians call water bedu.
