Etymology

Unknown. Not related as *μλίτον (*mlíton) to either μύλη (múlē, mill) or ἀμαλδύνω (amaldúnō, to soften, mitigate).[1] Perhaps cognate to Albanian lëpjetë (sorrel). Also compare the cognates listed at Proto-Slavic *loboda (goosefoot).
