βολεύω

Greek

Etymology

From an unattested *εὐβολεύω (*euboleúō), from Hellenistic Koine Greek εὐβολῶ (eubolô), εὐβολέω (euboléō) from εὖ (, good) +‎ -βολος (-bolos), the latter component from βολή (bolḗ, wound of a missile; throw of the dice). The original sense was "to accurately throw dice", which shifted to "be convenient, arrange".
