From ζωγρᾰφῐκός (zōgrăphĭkós): as a noun, a substantivisation of its feminine forms in elliptical use for ζωγρᾰφῐκὴ τέχνη (hē zōgrăphĭkḕ tékhnē, the painting craft); as an adjective, regularly declined forms. Zography means literally the writing of life.
