From πάροιμος (pároimos, “by the road, neighbor”) + -ία (-ía), or from παρα- (para-, “next, near, alongside, nearby, nigh”) + οἴμη (oímē, “song, tale”) + -ία (-ía, feminine suffix of abstraction).
