Inherited from Proto-Yeniseian *ɟejq (“pitch, conifer resin; flexible”). Cognate with Yug дьик (dʲīk) and Kott čîk (“resin; sulphur”).
Doublet of дигим (diɣim, “flexible”), which is from the adjectivization of the same root.
