Etymology 2
Possibly related to ръст (rǎst, “stature”) (which was traditionally also used as a unit of measurement). The specific value of 3 arshins (204 cm) / 7 feet could make the relationship with the human height harder to explain, as this would be much taller than the average, is however not unseen, compare the size of Arabic قَامَة (qāma) of 199.5 cm from قَامَ (qāma, “to stand up”). Also related to раста́ (rastá) as etymology 1.
Pronunciation
- IPA(key): [ˈrastɐk]
Noun
ра́стак • (rástak) m
- (obsolete) A unit of measure, equivalent to 3 arshins. Also equivalent to 7 стъ́пки (stǎ́pki, “feet”).
