  1. (intransitive) to burn
  2. to flame, to blaze
  3. (figurative) to burn (with passion)
  4. (of food) to burn (to become overheated to the point of being unusable)
  5. to tan, to suntan, to sunbathe
  6. (of a sauna) to become heated, to reach the right temperature
