Almost exclusively used in the expression դուլ ու դադար (dul u dadar, “rest, quite”).

Perhaps from Proto-Indo-European *dʰūl- and cognate with Middle Irish dál (“respite”), Scottish Gaelic dàil (“delay”), Old Norse dvǫl (“short stay, stop; delay”), dvelja (“to delay, tarry”).^[1][2][3]
