הלך לעולמו

Hebrew

Etymology

From הָלַךְ (halákh, went) + לְ־ (l'-, to) + עוֹלָמוֹ (olamó, his world); hence literally “went to his world”.

Verb

הָלַךְ לְעוֹלָמוֹ • (halákh l'olamó) (pa'al construction)

  1. (He/it) died, passed away.

Conjugation

See conjugation at הָלַךְ (halákh, went). The second word, לְעוֹלָמוֹ, ends with a suffix that varies according to the person spoken of. Thus, for example, הָלְכָה לְעוֹלָמָהּ (halkhá l'olamáh, (she/it) died).
