Etymology

From לֹא (lo, “not”) +‎ ב־ (b'-, “in, for”) +‎ Aramaic כְּדִי (k'dí), the latter probably a shortening of כְּדִיב (k'div) cognate with Hebrew כָּזָב (kazav).[1]
