ממשלה

From מָשַׁל (mashál, “to rule, to reign, to govern”). Compare with Arabic مُمَثِّل (mumaṯṯil, “representative”).

מֶמְשָׁלָה • (memshalá) f (plural indefinite מֶמְשָׁלוֹת, singular construct מֶמְשֶׁלֶת־)

1. A government.
2. governance; rule; reign.

     וַיַּעַשׂ אֱלֹהִים אֶת שְׁנֵי הַמְּאֹרֹת הַגְּדֹלִים אֶת הַמָּאוֹר הַגָּדֹל לְמֶמְשֶׁלֶת הַיּוֹם וְאֶת הַמָּאוֹר הַקָּטֹן לְמֶמְשֶׁלֶת הַלַּיְלָה וְאֵת הַכּוֹכָבִים:
