  1. (medicine, oncology, pathology) cancer (a disease in which the cells of a tissue undergo uncontrolled (and often rapid) proliferation)
  2. crab (any crustacean of the infraorder Brachyura, having five pairs of legs, the foremost of which are in the form of claws, and a carapace)

  • (cancer): The disease is sometimes referred to more fully as מַחֲלַת־הַסַּרְטָן (makhalát-hasartán, the cancer disease).
