Ultimately from Venetan venèdego (Venetian), formally reshaped by folk etymology بُنْدُق (bunduq, hazelnut) +‎ ـِيَّة (-iyya). Possibly mediated by Ottoman Turkish وندیك (venedik) from German Venedig.
