Etymology
Literally “southern frozen ocean”, from بَحْر (bahr, “sea, ocean”) + مُنْجَمِد (munjamid, “frozen, congealed”) + جُنُوبی (junūbī, “south”), a partial calque of Persian اقیانوس منجمد جنوبی (oqyânus-e monjamed-e janubi).
