Etymology

Inherited from Proto-Turkic *bük- (“to bow, curve, bend”);[1] cognate with Azerbaijani bükmək.

Verb

بوكمك • (bükmek) (third-person singular aorist بوكر (büker))

  1. (transitive) to bend, crook, curve, inflect, curl, to cause something to change its shape into a curve
    Synonyms: اكمك (eğmek), قیورمق (kıvırmak)
  2. (transitive) to fold, crease, pleat, to bend any thin material over so that it comes in contact with itself
