Borrowed from Classical Persian تَأْثِیر (ta'sīr), borrowed from Arabic تَأْثِير (taʔṯīr), from أَثَّرَ (ʔaṯṯara).[1][2] First attested in c. 1611 as Middle Hindi تاثیر (tas̱yr /tāsīr/).[3]
