Etymology 1

From Persian ترید (tarid, a soup), apparently in a variant as ثَلْجَم (ṯaljam), and possibly ultimately from a diminutive of Ancient Greek ἴτριον (ítrion), hence doublet of إِطْرِيَة (ʔiṭriya).
