Etymology

From Arabic ذَا ٱلْوَقْتَ (ḏā l-waqta, [at] this time). The final -i is the linking vowel that would frequently be inserted before another word due to the double-closed syllable in dilwaʾt, and which was eventually regarded part of the word.
