Etymology

Borrowed from Arabic نَزْلَة (nazla, cold, catarrh).

Noun

نزله • (nezle) (definite accusative نزله‌یی (nezleyi), plural نزله‌لر (nezleler))

  1. cold, a common viral illness, usually with congestion of the nasal passages and sometimes fever
    Synonyms: زكام (zükâm), صوغوق (soğuk), طوماغی (tumağı)
  2. catarrh, rheum, the thin and watery discharge of mucus or serum, especially from the nose or eyes
  3. catarrh, coryza, the inflammation of the mucous membranes lining the nasal cavity, or the throat
