Etymology

Inherited from Proto-Turkic *čebre (circle, circumference), a development from the root *čebir- (to twist, turn), whence چویرمك (çevirmek, to turn over, to turn around). Cognate with Azerbaijani çevrə, Chuvash ҫавра (śavra) and Turkmen çöwre.

  3. kind of white muslin, handkerchief commonly decorated and edged with gold or silver embroidery, sometimes worn on the head
