Etymology 3

Either from Persian شیک (šik) or from English chic. The affrication of the /ʃ/ is somewhat common in the Sharg subdialect of Kuwaiti Gulf Arabic (which is heavily influenced by Persian), but could also be a result of borrowing sound based on the orthography from English.
