Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit *𑀘𑀺𑀟𑀺𑀕𑀸 (*ciḍigā), feminine form of 𑀘𑀺𑀟𑀺𑀕 (ciḍiga), from Sanskrit *चिटिक (*ciṭika), from चटक (caṭaka, “sparrow”).[1]
