Learned borrowing from Classical Syriac of the adjective pattern 1a22ī3ā; compare Hebrew דָּבִיק (davíq), with the sense of “intransitive” a semantic loan from Arabic لَازِم (lāzim) while the sense of “conjunctive” a semantic loan from Arabic مَوْصُول (mawṣūl).
