Etymology
Semi-learned borrowing from Classical Syriac ܝܩܝܪ ܛܝ̈ܡܐ (yaqqīr ṭīmē). From the construct form of ܝܲܩܘܼܪܵܐ (yaqūrā, “heavy”) + ܛܝܼܡܹ̈ܐ (ṭīmē, “values; prices”), as a subsitute for the common Persianism ܓܪܵܢ (grān).
