Etymology

Semi-learned borrowing from Classical Syriac ܝܩܝܪ ܛܝ̈ܡܐ (yaqqīr ṭīmē). From the construct form of ܝܲܩܘܼܪܵܐ (yaqūrā, heavy) + ܛܝܼܡܹ̈ܐ (ṭīmē, values; prices), as a subsitute for the common Persianism ܓܪܵܢ (grān).
