Etymology
Inherited from Aramaic רוּחָא (rūḥā), from Proto-West Semitic *rūḥ-; compare Arabic رُوح (rūḥ), Hebrew רוּחַ (rúakh). The final sense of “self, oneself” is largely displaced by ܓܵܢܵܐ (gānā) where this sense is not found in the Kurdish source word.
