Etymology
Inherited from Prakrit 𑀅𑀁𑀕𑀼𑀝𑁆𑀞 (aṃguṭṭha) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀓- (-ka-), from Sanskrit अङ्गुष्ठ (aṅguṣṭha).[1] Doublet of अंगुष्ठ (aṅguṣṭh). Cognate with Punjabi ਅੰਗੂਠਾ (aṅgūṭhā), Gujarati અંગૂઠો (aṅgūṭho), Marathi अंगठा (aṅgṭhā), and Marwari अंगूठौ (aṅgūṭhau).
