Inherited from Old Hindi इँबली (im̐balī), अँबिली (am̐bilī),[1] from Prakrit अंबिलिया (aṃbiliyā), from Sanskrit अम्लिका (amlikā), आम्लिका (āmlikā, “tamarind”), from अम्ल (amlá, “sour”). Related to आम (ām, “mango”)
